The great thing about slingshots is that you can recycle your ammo . . . and a good catchbox is a must for every slingshot shooter!
We wanted a catchbox with a few important features:
- Folds for storage / transportation
- Easy assembly
- Durable for consistent use
- Large enough to accommodate multiple targets
Well, we never could find one, so we made one! This catchbox folds up nicely for easy storage or transportation and is easily assembled with simple corner joints. It has upgraded durability and is a 17-inch cube, so you can put spinners, cans, even plates (paper, please) inside.
Let's be clear. A catch box is NOT designed to take direct hits to the frame or to the front. The idea is that your shot will enter the catch box and be slowed by the hanging fabric. No slingshot catch box is designed for direct hits to the frame. We upgraded the material around the front and in the back of the catchbox for greater durability, but if you shoot the frame directly, you can break a frame post.
Add EXTRA fabric to the catchbox if you are shooting heavy or fast ammo. The included backstop will stop match ammo, but you will need extra for faster or heavy ammo.
This catchbox comes with a free 5-pack of silicone spinner targets.
It is very robust. The frame is made of solid rods and the front is very thick leather. I use a large bungee cord to hooked to 2 of the 4 loops and hang it from my fence. It is easy to move and adjust. I use it to store my ammo and slingshot between sessions. I docked it a star because there are some loose unfinished ends of fabric inside the box the method for tying targets inside the box makes no sense and there is no sting included for hanging or setting up the targets. for the premium that is charged I would expect a bit better.
I have taken this on a couple camp trips now. When trying to get away from computers and such you still want to have something to do in your free time. This gave me that outlet. It's storable as to not take too much of my cargo space, but gives me an outlet during downtime out camping. I am not a pro shot by any expression but being able to have fun and practice with something so durable is a good thing.
I am very happy with the catchbox. It is made with high quality materials and is very heavy duty. I use it whenever i shoot in the backyard and it has held up great. I Would definitely recommend this item to anyone looking for a high quality catch box. Simple shot is my go to for everythung slingshots.
I love this! It’s a great improvement over the original both in the durability of the materials and in the frame design. Be careful, however, on handling the fiberglass frame rods because you can pick up microscopic fiberglass shards in your fingers. Pro tip: go to the drugstore and buy a set of black 24” elastic shoelaces. Use a single elastic shoelace with one of the provided spring clasps to hold the rubber target piece in the opening. I used a rolling hitch (hat tip to my Scoutmaster training) to tie the shoelace on on of the frame uprights, and then I threaded the running end of the shoelace through target piece. It fit perfectly. I then put the running end of the shoelace through one half of the spring clasp and double-wrapped the loose end around the opposite upright. I passed the running end back through the remaining open hole of the spring clasp and pulled it all tight. This makes it easy to hang and change out target pieces and hold the target line taut.
The catch box is great. It allows me to be more mobile. Shoot from different direction, if the sun is in my eyes just move the box, put it on the ground,on a table, hang it from a tree, take it to a friends backyard. I made a framework that goes inside so I can put many different targets on thin steel rods. A line of spinners, cans or bells or all of them at the same time. It is big enough to shoot at many targets and rarely have any ammo pop out, small enough to transport anywhere. Hours of shooting fun, one minute to collect up your ammo. Awesome!
Love how the back is reinforced. Great upgrade SimpleShot!
