Indoor shooting

During the cold, dark days of winter i wanted to keep shooting, so inside was my only option. Didn't want to tear anything up with steel ammo or make a mess with clay ammo so I figured I would try SimpleShot's plastic ammo. I made real narrow, long tapered band sets, a make shift catchbox with a 20mm spinner. I can't quite get a 10 meter distance in my house but I must say it satisfies my itch to shoot. The bounce outs and ricochets don't damage anything or go very far even on wooded floors. For the short distance they travel the plastic ammo goes straight. A few pieces may have a bit of a ridge, flashing, on them causing a tremendous curve but I use real fine sandpaper to take it down and it does ok. I'm very happy with the plastic ammo, hoping it improves my shooting during the winter months.

Plastic vs. Rubber Training Ammo

So which is the better training ammo, plastic or rubber? I’m writing this review here because for me, I shoot more accurately with plastic. I like shooting rubber because (1) it’s quieter, and (2) it’s not as slick, which makes it easier to load into the pouch. But for whatever reason, I’m just not as accurate with rubber as I am with the plastic. Maybe it’s just my lousy shooting, but I have a theory. I think that because the rubber balls are not as slick on the outside, there’s more friction as they come out of the pouch. That means that even the slightest flaw in the release will put a little spin on that very light ball and send it off course. Take it for what it’s worth, but I have shot a few thousand rounds of each in the past month, with 4 different slingshots, and I hit my little spinner considerably more often with the plastic ammo. And because the goal is to make that spinner flip as often as possible, I find myself reaching for plastic more often than not.

Forces you to become more consistent

I absolutely love the plastic ammo and the rubber ammo. They are the same size that I hunt with…. 3/8ths inch steel ammo is what I use to hunt when not using a slingbow. So this plastic and rubber ammo is fantastic. It does sort of amplify any mistakes you make when shooting. It kinda forces you to become more consistent in how you release etc. I’ve been buying this ammo for a few years now and will continue to do so.

Surprisingly Good!

When I ordered this ammo, and even when I first pulled it out of the packaging, I was skeptical about how accurate these little plastic balls could be. Now that I've spent a few days shooting them, I believe the balls are more accurate than I am as a shooter. I like that they will easily punch through hung printer paper targets, but don't seem to deliver much force at all upon other targets. I think getting shot with one of these would sting plenty, but not cause injury anywhere other than the eyes. I've been shooting them in both my basement and my backyard. The white color makes them super easy to find in the grass. They have proven to be plenty accurate at 33 feet, and they even seem to be reasonably accurate from 50 feet even with a slight breeze. Could not be happier with these as a practice ammo.
