SLINGSHOTS AND FOLK LIFE

Posted by Team SimpleShot on Oct 23rd 2014

Nathan Masters, founder of SimpleShot and Richard "Blue" Skeen have been on the road and sharing slingshot craft with folks at the Blue Ridge Folklife Festival at Ferrum College in Ferrum, Virginia. Blue has been attending this festival for many years of the 41 year and running annual event. This year he asked Nathan to come along and make treefork slingshots and teach young and old how to shoot. We were right at home with our fellow artists and country folk- from coon dog trials to horse logging to mountain craft such as homemade slingshots, the Blue Ride Folklife Festival has it all. And did we mention all the good vittles?? If you are in southern Virginia next October, this is one event you don't want to miss!

Richard "Blue" Skeen (Five time national slingshot Champion) showing the crowd how to light up the targets with a natural fork slingshot.

Blue teaching the next generation how to get on target fast... this kid had great form and was a natural from the very first shot. It also didn't hurt that she had one of the very best slingshot shooters showing her how it was done!
