Dead Ringer- BB Slingshot

Dead Ringer- BB Slingshot

The Dead Ringer is a dedicated BB shooting slingshot made for .177 caliber BB's.  Of course, any projectile or bands can be used with this virtually indestructible 1/2" thick HDPE slingshot, but its ultra compact size makes it perfect for small ammo.  The traditional 'pinky hole' is situated to accommodate the ring finger rather than the pinky, offering a secure and comfortable fork supported or full pinch grip.  This is also a great slingshot for kids or those with very small hands, as both the pinky and ring finger can fit in the hole for an extra secure grip.

This slingshot comes with our BB flatbands made from Theraband Blue or tubular bands, each with our top grain leather BB pouch.

  • Overall Height: 3-9/16"
  • Outside width: 3"
  • Fork Gap:  1-5/16"
  • Fork Tips: 3/4"

    Small and interesting shooter

An interesting pocketable slingshot, I'm still figuring out what is the most comfortable way for me to hold it.

4 stars because it came with the tube bandset (as I've asked) which came with the usual band pieces for attachment. I wasn't able to attach these small tubes using the wrap and tuck method after several tries.
Other users of the Dead Ringer who shoot tubes use looped attachment method, which requires a different tying material than the one provided with the bandset by default.

    too small

I tried to put "general purpose flatbands" using wrap and tuck method. it's too small to be a good slingshot in that way. but then again i think if i practiced more I would get used to it. but initially, it's generally to small in my opinion.

    Well-Made, Compact Slingshot

    Posted by Astronomer1 on Dec 15th 2018

I have acquired a number of slingshots from various manufacturers over the years. The Dead Ringer was somewhat different from the array of heavier devices I have collected.

On the plus side, the Dead Ringer is compact, and specifically engineered for BB's. The ammo is inexpensive, and the draw weight is light. However, when properly set up for one's personal draw length, this little slingshot fires BB's at a surprisingly swift velocity. At the time of my recent order, the only available BB bands were the black tubular sets. I hope that I can soon obtain the Theraband Blue Flatband for comparison. It was somewhat easy to create a looped bandset with the black tubular bands, but I don't yet know how that process might compare to installing the flatbands.

On the distaff side of this review, a couple of things occur. First, because this is a tiny slingshot, it seems easy to lose control of your grip on the frame during the draw. If you do, the slingshot can fly backward toward the shooter. So in addition to shooting glasses, I recommend that the shooter always put his/her hand through the wrist lanyard, as well as a finger through the grip ring. This would become increasingly important as a shooter opts for heavier bands and projectiles.

Second, while it is possible (with practice) to tie loops for frame-mounting the tubular band set, the process would be much easier with some sort of jig to hold things in place.

Third, the accompanying ownership manual was generic, not specific to the Dead Ringer. The generic document lacks appropriate specificity. I would have liked to see a definitive statement as to which side of the frame should face the shooter (or target). The generic illustrations showed how to tie flatbands, not tubulars, and did not reflect the processes for attaching them to this tiny model.

But all in all, I look forward to testing BB’s with Blue Theraband Flatbands, as well as the orange flatbands with 1/4 inch steel projectiles.

    Nice Little Slingshot

When I first received this slingshot it too a little bit of adjusting the tubes to the correct length. This was my first tube shooter. Then I did not like how the tubes moved around in holes on the forks. I watched a video on making gypsy tabs. The tubes are now always in the correct orientation to shoot. It is a fun little slingshot that throws BB's really well. I really like it.

I bought this as my first slingshot since childhood wire frames years ago and it is so much fun, low cost ammo it feels great in the hand and I cant wait to try shooting it with 3/8 steel and theraband gold funnily enough I prefer it to a few full size naturals I've tried it's great how comfy this guy sits in your hand

Product was everything it was said to be. Excellent for youth or someone who wants to continue shooting but on a budget. Fits nicely in your and allows for a solid hold. Definitely recommending this to anyone who shoots or are thinking about letting their children shoot

    Nice slingshot

I like my Dead Ringer but wish thar it came with the option of ordering it with the band setup shown in the photo. It's my first slingshot and I found it difficult to tie the flat band. Still a very nice shooter.
