This past weekend on Saturday August 17, 2013, the first annual Killen Hollow Gravel Flippin' Championship was held in the hometown of five time national slingshot champion, Richard "Blue" Skeen of Pound, VA

.2013 Killen Hollow Gravel Flippin Championship

We had a terrific turnout of local slingshot shooters eager to share the fun and fellowship slingshots are so capable of producing. Our youngest shooter was five years old, with our eldest being 81 (Mr. Blue Skeen and he tied for first place!!). Shooters arrived at high noon to test their skill on the Multi Lakes Slingshot Club paper target format- five shots from 10 meters. The center bullseye was worth 10 points, with each circle beyond center worth one less point per ring. If you cut the line, you got the higher score. A perfect score was 50. Nathan Masters and Blue Skeen tied for first place with mutual 47 point scores.

Great fun was had by all and some great shooting was displayed. By the end of the afternoon, shooters were splitting playing cards and trimming weeds in the garden with 7/16" steel balls powered by rubber and tree forks. Whether you are hunter, plinker, or competitor, slingshots are the best tool for fun, fellowship, and excitement... for kids of any age!
